Definition of Finish Types:
Electro-Galvanized or EG: Electro plating is a process that electrically deposits zinc to the surface of the chain. The zinc plate is very thin and is a cosmetic coating with minimal corrosion protection. A clear/blue or yellow chrome is applied after the actual zinc coating, this thin chrome film prevents the zinc plate from oxidizing.
Self-Colored or SC: Chain lacking a coating or any finish.
Shot Blasted or SB: A method that cleans and prepares the surface of the chain by peening with fine steel shot.
Hot Dipped Galvanized or HG: A process that deposits a heavy layer of zinc onto the surface of chain. This is the thickest and best protection from elements and corrosion.
Paint: A dipping process where a paint coating is applied to the chain.
Powder Coating: A coating made from spraying powdered thermosetting resins onto a metal substrate, which are then set by baking
