Laclede Chain Manufacturing Company dates back to 1854, making us the oldest chain producer in the United States. Our beginnings were in a small blacksmith shop in St. Louis, Missouri, manufacturing wagon hardware and farm implements. We produced chains used on the wagon trains for the expansion west. The chain was produced from drawn steel wire, then formed and welded by hand. By the 1890s, the company grew to become a national purveyor of chain and hardware.
Laclede has continued to grow over the decades. Our operations in Maryville, Missouri, had its beginning in mid 1920s. Over the last 30 years, this facility has experienced significant growth with the manufacturing and warehousing space expanding to 200,000 square feet at the present from 30,000 square feet in 1972. With the addition of new chain making and heat treating equipment with advanced technology we are able to provide a wide range of products including Grades 80 & 100 Alloy chain and other products intended for specific applications such as debarking chain. We are pleased to be ISO 9001 certified and are committed to continuous improvement and to serving our customers in the most effective ways possible.
